Create a video in Chat

Write the brief in Wavemaker Chat, send, watch production, then iterate without a full restart.

This walkthrough takes you from a blank composer to a finished video in Wavemaker Chat at wavemaker.io/platform/chat.

1. Open Chat and write the brief

Describe the video. Put duration in the prompt ("a 30-second ad", "about 90 seconds"). There is no separate Duration chip. Broadcast lengths (":30 TV spot") stay frame-exact.

Around the composer:

  • Aspect ratio: 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:5, or 2:3. The visible selection is used on Send.

  • Enhance (on by default): expands a short brief into a fuller creative brief and keeps the specifics you wrote. Turn it off to use your text as-is.

  • Attachments: product photos, a person's photo, a music track, or documents (cap 3).

  • Model Auto: on a new session, Send picks video, images, or audio from the brief so you do not have to pick an engine first. Just run (inside More) fills settings from the prompt. Ask first walks settings before spend.

What Wavemaker honors exactly

  • Your script. Paste voiceover or dialogue in quotes and it is used word-for-word. A fully-scripted ad gets the runtime the words need.

  • Wordless videos. Say "no narration", "wordless", or "no voice-over" and no narrator is added.

  • How people look. Describe your on-screen subject and that description binds casting in every scene.

  • Format and length. Explicit aspect ratio and duration are respected.

  • Music direction. Ask for a specific musical feel and the score is written to it.

A useful brief names what it is, who or what it is about (include a website URL if you have one), the feeling, and must-haves such as exact copy in quotes or a closing line. You do not need shot lists or camera jargon.

If your prompt has a URL, facts come from your site. Prices appear on screen only if they exist in your source material. An ad close uses your brand name, site, and (when found on your site) real contact info.

2. Send

Press Send. Wavemaker may show matching workflows. You can pick one in Model, or leave Auto. Suggest is the browse path when you want to choose.

3. Watch it build

The activity feed shows planning, script, storyboard, stills, clips, narration, music, and assembly. If a known character or product needs a reference photo, the run pauses and asks you to attach one. It does not invent a celebrity lookalike and ship.

4. Refine without a full restart

When the video appears in OUTPUTS:

  • Redo / Replace / Remove on a scene (More menu when the production is idle).

  • Animate a still, Extend a clip, or Edit with an instruction.

  • Use as input to attach a file to the next Send.

  • Typed production edits (dialogue, music, add scene) when the run is idle.

Each change is scoped to that piece. Use + New generation when the concept changed. Finished media lands in Files.
